Celebrating Shabbat with the Family Chavurah is
a very spiritual experience. As a community, we all pray
together. Even though our
Rabbi leads the service,
everyone is encouraged to participate equally. Our
Siddur brings every prayer in Hebrew, English and in
transliteration so that those who do not read Hebrew can
sing and pray fully. For the younger children, we have a
Children's service in which they learn, pray, and play
games.
Our service is what we call an “explanatory service”:
every person is encouraged to ask questions and the
Rabbi explains the different prayers and parts of the
service as we move along.
Our
services start at 7pm, which gives everyone the time to
come home, unwind, and then get together as a community.
The family feeling continues when we share Shabbat
Dinner together, right after services, with a lot of
singing and good food!
