Bar/Bat Mitzvah services can be held any day the Torah is being read. Generally speaking, on any Monday morning, Thursday morning, Shabbat morning, Shabbat afternoon, and also at other dates when the Torah is read.
At the Family Chavurah, we work with each child based on his/her abilities and level of knowledge. We will prepare the child to have an aliyah to the Torah and to lead parts of the service. We teach the child the main prayers and how to read from the Torah. But since becoming a Bar/Bat Mitzvah is much more than simply going up to the bimah and reciting prayers, we also teach the student about their heritage: about our traditions, our history, our beliefs. All in all, our students have a wonderful experience throughout the process.
